Description: LMA were appointed to produce contemporary design ideas to bring an out-dated design up to a modern style. The initial plan was to ‘face lift’ the property by removing the blue tinted glass and adding alternative materials to the building façade to add character and interest to the overall external appearance.
Through detail design we then proposed a ground floor addition to open up the kitchen space and make better use of the ground floor layout, allowing access to the garden providing a better interaction between internal and external space. Using natural stone cladding to the external façade we established a hierarchy to the elevations providing a solid base to the building which also helped tie in the detached garage to be read in conjunction with the house and not as a standalone addition to the main building. The Art Deco style curve to the ground floor extension helps add an interesting feature to this linear design.
Planning Approval was granted in November 2017 with detailed design and working drawings now underway.
